Abbey Centre


The Abbey Centre offers a range of health, educational and social activities for older people, for people with disabilities, for children and younger people as well as lunchtime sessions for local residents/workers. The Abbey provides preventative and low level mental health services through a range of activities for older people.

Social activities include

Opportunities for older people to volunteer at the Centre include a Befriending Buddies project where volunteers telephone or visit older people for chats.

The Wash House Cafe is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm, providing discounts for members and discounted lunches for older members, the opportunity to socialise and free WIFI. 

Opening hours are

  • Monday to Thursday 9am to 9pm
  • Friday 9am to 5.30pm
  • Saturday 9am-5pm

The building is wheelchair accessible. There is a permanent loop system in the main hall and braille lift buttons.
